Man Arrested After Allegedly Trying To Steal From A 7-Year-Old
El Paso police investigators have arrested Gerardo Olivares, 28, and charged him with robbery.
Officials said he was seen choking a 7-year-old boy and trying to steal money the boy was holding in one of his hands.
Police said when officers arrived at the scene in the 3200 block of Alameda they saw Olivares slumped over, apparently intoxicated.
Investigators said the boy did not suffer serious injuries but was scared and in pain.
The mother of the boy was reportedly at the scene and said she would prosecute Olivares for the robbery.
Olivares was booked in to the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $10,000.
