Police: Woman Walking Outdoors Drunk With Baby Charged

The El Paso Police Department has charged 27-year-old Tania Sandoval with child endangerment after an incident on the city’s northeast side Tuesday night.

Officers said they were investigating a disturbance at Sunrise Avenue and Dyer Street shortly after 9 p.m. when, they said they found Sandoval drunk and holding a 3-month-old who was not wearing pants or socks in 46-degree weather.

Police saw Sandoval fall to the ground while holding the infant. The child was not injured.

Officers arrested Sandoval and charged her with abandoning and endangering a child, along with three outstanding municipal warrants.

Sandoval was booked on $3,850 bond.

The baby was turned over to its father at the scene.
