El Paso Police ID Child Who Drowned Sunday

The El Paso Police Dept. have released the name of the 4-year-old boy who drowned Sunday.

At about 10:25 a.m., Sunday, El Paso Police responded to a water emergency in the 8400 block of Hopewell. Officers found 4-year-old JaDavion Jordan outside by the pool being tended to by his grandfather, 64-year-old Bennie Jordan.

El Paso Fire/Medical was also on the scene providing medical treatment to the child. JaDavion was transported to Del Sol Medical Center where he died.

Police said that JaDavion had gotten out of bed at about 10 a.m. and asked to go outside. His mother, Nicole Jordan, told him he could not go outside and she began to prepare breakfast for JaDavion. Moments later Nicole went to check on JaDavion but could not locate him inside the home.

She then went outside and located JaDavion floating, face down, in the family’s pool, according to police. Nicole got in the pool and was able to get JaDavion out of the water. She then summoned her father, Bennie Jordan, who began CPR on JaDavion.

The pool did not have a fence or cover, according to police. At this time detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit believes the death to be accidental. No charges have been filed in this case.
