Update: Teenager Killed In Northeast El Paso

The El Paso Police Department said Angel Cuevas, 15, is dead after an altercation on El Paso’s northeast side Friday night.

Authorities said the incident occurred in a ditch area between the Tropicana apartment complex and the Carmike Theaters around 11:30 p.m.

Information is still limited, but police told ABC-7 that an altercation between two groups of men resulted in Cuevas being killed.

His family gathered Saturday evening for a vigil at the spot where Cuevas was killed.

Loved ones erected a black cross at the site. They also left balloons and a teddy bear.

“He made everybody laugh, everybody. He always joked around, good or bad, he always joked around. He loved music, loved playing with his little brother,” said Iris Cuevas, mother of the victim.

Police haven’t confirmed how the teen was killed, but family friends tell us he was stabbed.
