13-Year-Old Allegedly Steals Grandfather’s Car, Burglarizes Flower Shop

A Fabens, Texas man had his 13-year-old grandson arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly stealing his car.

El Paso County Sheriff’s officials also said the 13-year-old was involved in a flower shop burglary the same day near the grandfather’s home.

When the vehicle was recovered, the 83-year-old man told El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies his 13-year-old grandson had taken his maroon Mitsubishi Galant without permission. The car had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

The man said he has had continuous trouble with the his 13 year-old grandson and wanted to file charges against him, according to sheriff’s officials. Deputies were directed to the 13-year-old’s location where he was taken into custody without incident.

Sheriff’s officials said further investigation by crimes against property detectives revealed the juvenile was involved in the flower shop burglary.

The 13-year-old juvenile was arrested for Unauthorized Use of Vehicle and turned over to the Juvenile Probation Department. Charges for the burglary are forthcoming, sheriff’s officials said. His name is not being released by authorities because he is a juvenile.
