UTEP Women Fall to Houston

EL PASO, Texas (AP) – Courtney Taylor had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Jasmine Johnson hit several clutch free throws down the stretch to lead No. 22 Houston to a 67-64 win over UTEP Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA tournament. UTEP’s Kelli Willingham tried for a desperation shot as the clock expired but came up short. Lesslee Mason added 19 points and 14 rebounds for top-seeded Houston (26-4), which will face No. 4 seed Tulane in Friday’s semifinals. Dietra Calwell and Erika Warren each scored 18 points for the Miners (16-14).
