Body Found Along I-10 West Of Las Cruces

A shocking discovery along Interstate 10, near Corralitos Road or mile marker 127, just west of Las Cruces.

A truck driver found a dead man mixed in with thick brush, just feet away from the shoulder, where his semi broke down on his way to Los Angeles.

“I turned and looked and I could see the hand,” Patrick Liddell said. “After I had seen the hand, I just called 911.”

Liddell stumbled upon the body around noon Monday, after he said he had unknowingly spent the night so close to it.

“Just basically I glanced over there and could see the hand,” Liddell said. “It looked like he had his clothes on and everything, but after I had seen the hand, I didn’t want to look anymore, you know, I don’t like scary crimes.”

From where ABC-7 was standing, the body appeared to be badly decomposed. The body also appeared to have been exposed to the elements outside for quite some time, New Mexico State Police said.

It is not known if the man was hit by a car or foul play was involved, New Mexico State Police said.

Identification of the man will be determined by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
