Sugar Detox: Day 27

Day 27: Best Benefit Ever

I’m the kind of woman that needs every second of my eight hour sleep cycle.

Last night, I had a total of two hours of sleep, and they weren’t even consecutive.

So of course waking up at 4 a.m. today for Good Morning El Paso Weekend came with the assumption that I would have a nap after I got off work.

But Instead of having a Coke with my breakfast, like I did last week, I decided to do a little experiment. Instead of loading up on sugar, I chose to eat a protein-rich breakfast (eggs and toast) as well as a protein rich snack (beef jerky).

Let me just say, protein is awesome. The difference between last week and this week is astounding.

Not only did I feel pretty good after I got home from the station, but I also didn’t nap at all today. It’s now almost 10 p.m. and I would say I’m only slightly more tired than usual.

Having energy throughout the day is always something I have struggled with. Even when I get a full-night’s rest I still feel lethargic in the afternoon, especially on the weekends when I’m up before the sun rises.

Not today. Today, I was an energy beast.

Could it be the protein? Hmmm… further testing and research is going to be needed.

Also, today my cravings have been the most manageable they have EVER been. I didn’t even think about visiting the candy machines while I was at work. I was so productive that I got all my work done an hour an a half early.

Wow, this blog is boring. Maybe I’m more tired than I thought.

Perhaps there is a direct relationship between the amount of sleep I get and how witty and creative I am.
