Las Cruces Bookeeper Indicted; $500k Embezzlement Alleged
A Las Cruces bookkeeper who allegedly stole $500,000 from two area general contractors is indicted on several charges, including embezzlement.
Judd Moore has been indicted on 60 felony charges of forgery, conspiracy, embezzlement and tax evasion. A Las Cruces grand jury returned the indictments Thursday.
Officials with the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department say Moore was arrested in July by the Las Cruces Police Department. Official add that Moore also failed to report any additional income when he filed his personal income tax returns with the state for the years 2008 and 2009.
Moore, 45, was also indicted on a charge of practicing law without a license. Moore’s wife and two adult children were also arrested and indicted on additional forgery charges.
If convicted, Moore could face up to 157 years in prison and $330,000 in fines.
