State Investigating Anthony, Texas Mayor
The long time mayor of Anthony, Texas, Art Franco, is under a state investigation by the Texas Rangers.
A source close to the investigation tells ABC-7 the investigation involves misappropriation of funds and possible credit card abuse.
A spokesman with the Texas Department of Public Safety confirms the Texas Rangers have been on the case for several months.
“I stand by what I’ve done, I stand by what I’ve accomplished in this community and you know, I’m not the perfect mayor but I guarantee you that what I’ve done I’ve done with the best interest of the community,” Franco.
Franco has been mayor for 18 years and told ABC-7 he’s been investigated before and is confident this will be resolved in his favor.
The annual city budget for Anthony, Texas is about 2.5 million dollars.
