El Paso Police: Parents Allegedly Leave 5-Month-Old In Car To Play Games At Venue
El Paso Police arrested the parents of a 5-month-old girl early Monday morning after the couple allegedly left the child in an SUV to play games at Speaking Rock, according to police officials.
Alejandro Lopez, 24, of San Elizario and Monica Ruelas-Saucedo, 26, of the 5500 block of Eisenhower were arrested and charged with a felony count of abandoning or endangering a child.
Tribal Police were on the scene late Sunday night and had requested the staff of Speaking Rock assist in finding the parents of the child. The staff assisted by calling over the intercom inside Speaking Rock for the owners of the vehicle to come out and the parents of the child were identified.
El Paso Police said the investigation also showed that the 5-month-old child had been left in the car for more than two hours while Lopez and Ruelas-Saucedo were inside Speaking Rock.
Both were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. The child was released to a family member.
