NMSU Forward Gillenwater to Remain in NBA Draft
LAS CRUCES , N.M. (May 8)- New Mexico State men?s basketball junior forward Troy Gillenwater has decided to remain in the NBA draft. He led the Aggies in both scoring and rebounding with 18.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in 2010-11.
?After thinking long and hard about Troy ?s situation, we feel it is in his best interest to remain in the NBA draft,? head coach Marvin Menzies said. ? Troy ?s decision was a tough one for him. Financially for his family, it is in their best interest for him to start his professional career.?
Gillenwater was a first team All-WAC selection and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Six Team honoree in 2010-11. This season, he surpassed the 30-point plateau four times including a career-high 34 points against Boise State , Jan. 27, 2010. Gillenwater also posted 12 games with 20-plus points. He became the 27th member of the Aggie 1,000-point club, March 2, 2011. He now has 1,065 career points and ranks No. 21 on NM State?s all-time scoring list.
