Wanted Man ‘Tased’ Overnight After Alleged Encounter With Deputy

Early Thursday morning 05-12-2011 at about 2:30 AM, a Sheriff?s Deputy working an off duty job as uniformed security at the Petro Stopping Centers, 1295 Horizon Blvd observed a male subject enter the center who he recognized as an individual wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant for the offense of Criminal Trespass.

The Sheriff?s Deputy made contact with the subject who was immediately uncooperative refusing to obey the Deputy?s verbal commands. As the Deputy attempted to detain him, the subject violently swung his arm pulling away from the Deputy. The subject then began running away in a desperate attempt to escape but was ?Tased? by the Sheriff?s Deputy.

The subject was taken into custody without further incident. He was identified as MICHAEL BARNER (31) of the 10000 block of News Castle El Paso, TX. He was booked & remains at the El Paso County Jail Annex on several charges.
