Voters Approve Canutillo ISD’s Bond, TRE Propositions

Canutillo Independent School District’s bond proposal and tax rate proposition passed.

Canutillo ISD bond proposal: FOR- 921 votes at 54 percent AGAINST- 782 votes at 46 percent

Canutillo ISD tax rate proposition: FOR- 989 votes at 57 percent. AGAINST- 730 votes at 43 percent.

The proposed bond totaling nearly $44 million dollars would fund projects including: -A new pre-k through 8th grade school -Middle school improvements -Cooling and heating upgrades -Energy efficiency projects.

The tax ratification election which would take care of operational and maintenance costs and save those teaching positions.

If both the bond and the t-r-e pass, the average taxpayer in the district would see their bill increase by about $29 a month.
