El Paso Police: Man Leaves 2-Year-Old In Car While Allegedly Shoplifting

El Paso Police have arrested a man who allegedly left his 2-year-old daughter inside a vehicle while he shoplifted inside a Lower Valley K-Mart on Tuesday, police officials said.

Police said the investigation revealed that Victor Lee Gonzalez, 21, of the 6500 block of Sam Snead, had entered the store at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday and allegedly took numerous DVD’s. Gonzalez exited the store without paying for the items and was detained for the theft, police said.

Police said Gonzalez had left his 2-year old daughter inside a 2004 red Pontiac Alero, with the keys in the ignition, engine running, and the vehicle unsecured, while he was inside..

Police also found 5.8 grams of marijuana in Gonzalez’s underwear, according to police officials. Gonzalez was placed under arrest for abandon/endangering a child, possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, and theft over $50. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $3,100.
