Ex-Substitute Teacher Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charge, Sentenced To Prison
A former Ysleta Independent School District substitute teacher has been sentenced to five years in federal prison and 10 years probation after being convicted of possession of child pornography.
Thirty-two-year-old Alejandro “Alex” Fierro pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography in March. Fierro’s Lower Valley neighbors told ABC-7 last year they were shocked to hear of his arrest.
Acting on a tip from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan in August of 2010, investigators confiscated Fierro’s computer and other related media from the bedroom of his El Paso home. According to authorities, they found approximately 37 images and 62 videos depicting child pornography, sent to him by a Michigan man.
The case was investigated by the FBI, along with the El Paso Police Department.
According to the FBI, Fierro suffers from epileptic seizures and he has not worked this year. YISD officials confirmed that Fierro had worked with the district since 2003 as a substitute teacher. Specific schools he worked at were not made available.
