El Paso pitcher Fernando Rodriguez called up to Astros again

PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Houston Astros put left-hander Fernando Abad on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and recalled righty reliever Fernando Rodriguez from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Abad has tendinitis in his pitching shoulder. He was 1-4 with a 7.32 ERA and allowed four runs in an inning during his most recent appearance Saturday. The Astros waited to announce the move until he was examined before the game against Pittsburgh, presumably to determine if he would be sent to the minors or put on the DL. Rodriguez had a 2.87 ERA in 13 games with the Astros earlier this season before being optioned to Oklahoma City on June 24.
