Crime Of The Week: Driver In Deadly Hit-And-Run Sought

Authorities are looking for the driver of a pickup that struck and killed a man near Bowie High School in March.

Police said 46-year-old Jorge Campa was attempting to cross Paisano Drive near Piedras Street about 10:20 p.m. March 24 when he was hit by white Chevrolet Avalanche heading west. The driver, who did not stop to stop and render aid, is the subject of Crime Stoppers’ “Crime of the Week.”

Campa, whose address is unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said the Avalanche, which is believed to be a 2002-06 model, should have damage to the front-left side and has a broken fog-light cover.

If you have any information on the accident, call Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477, or submit tips online at crimestoppersofelpaso.org. Callers will remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
