Police: Man Had 56 Baggies Of Crack Cocaine

A routine traffic stop Thursday on El Paso’s East Side led to the discovery of 56 baggies of crack cocaine, police said

Fernando Martinez, 40, was driving a white 2004 Dodge Ram on George Dieter near Vista Del Sol Drive when he was stopped for a stop-line violation about 5 p.m. at 1600 Billie Marie, police said.

After a search of the pickup, officers found 56 baggies of crack cocaine totaling 33.4 grams, police said.

Martinez, of the 1900 block of Karen Sue Place, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance over 4 grams.

Martinez also had four outstanding traffic warrants, police said. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail with bond set at $30,000.
