Motorist Shot At; Drives For Miles With Glass, Bullet Fragments In Body

A man was shot at while driving his truck, and drove for a few miles with broken glass and possibly bullet fragments in his upper body before stopping and getting help, according to El Paso Police.

Officers responded to a shots fired call on the 3800 block of Flory in Northeast El Paso close to 1 on Sunday morning. They discovered that a 51-year-old man had been driving his white Ford truck near Kenworthy and Salem, when several shots were fired at his vehicle, said Police officials.

The man then drove about 7 miles to the 3800 block of Flory and reported the incident to police. According to a police spokesman, the man drove those 7 miles with glass and what may have been bullet fragments in his upper body. He was taken to University Medical Center. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening, said police.

El Paso Police’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating the case.
