Sheriff’s Office Releases Name of Woman Involved In Horizon Rollover

Sheriff’s Investigators said a woman on Friday rolled her SUV and had to be removed from the mangled metal of the vehicle using the jaws of life.

It happened Friday evening at about 6:20 on I-10 east near the Horizon Exit.

Investigators said Velores Upchurch Munoz, 33, was the only person inside the 2008 grey Chevrolet Tahoe, which rolled to the center median and ended up in an upright position blocking traffic.

Sheriff’s Investigators said witnesses reported seeing Munoz traveling at a ‘high rate of speed’ when her tire possibly blew out. Munoz sustained head, left leg and pelvic injuries and was transported to University Medical Center, according to Sheriff’s Deputies. Her injuries are reported to be non life-threatening.
