T or C Residents Demand Justice in Fatal Dog Mauling

Family and friends of Margaret Salcedo are demanding that New Mexico authorities charge the owner of the pit bulls that fatally mauled in Truth or Consequences.

“Those dogs killed somebody,” Gerald Salcedo said. “They did what, I think, they were trained to do and nothing is happening.”

Margaret Salcedo, 48, was out walking when the dogs owned by John Hardiman attacked her in the middle of the day.

?That was a danger to my sister and anyone walking down the street. That was a danger. He was raising a danger,? said Gerald Salcedo.

District Attorney Clint Wellborn disagrees with Salcedo. He would not give any details about the investigation but said his officer is working diligently to find the answers.

“If we were trying to sweep it under the rug, we would basically close the case. Since we?re trying to see what we can do to pursue the case it takes a while,? Wellborn said.

ABC-7 visited John Hardiman?s home but he refused to comment about the incident. Gerald Salcedo said his family and community residents plan continue pressuring New Mexico authorities until the owner of the dogs is brought to justice.
