UTEP Softball Signs Two Local Players
EL PASO ? UTEP softball co-head coach James Rodriguez has announced the addition of El Paso?s McKenzey Finley and Ashley Eldridge to the incoming class.
?I believe both these young ladies will come in and contribute to our softball program and will represent our university very well.?
Finley, a catcher from Coronado High School, was named to the 2011 El Paso Times District 1-5A First Team. She batted .554 as a senior with a slugging percentage of .940, 43 runs and 26 RBIs.
Prior to her junior year, Finley was named to the El Paso Times Top 25 Players to Watch following All-District 1-5A First Team honors in 2009. Finley was named the district?s newcomer of the year in 2008 and garnered El Paso Times Honorable Mention.
Eldrigde is the 2011 El Paso Times 1-5A Offensive Most Valuable Player out of El Dorado High School. A utility player, Eldrigde hit a .663 batting average with a 1.517 slugging percentage, 49 runs and 50 RBIs in 2011. She garnered Academic All-State Honorable Mention by the Texas High School Coaches Association in 2011.
