Mexican Officials Identify US Court Interpreter Killed in Juarez
An El Paso court interpreter kidnapped and killed in Juarez has been identified, and Mexican authorities say one of the suspects was the victim’s girlfriend.
Jorge Dieppa, 57, worked full-time at the federal courthouse as an English-Spanish interpreter and part time at UTEP as an instructor, according to the UTEP website.
The State of Chihuahua prosecutor’s office says Dieppa was kidnapped on July 5th and found dead the following day. Mexican officials say the three kidnappers had asked for $10,000 in ransom.
One of the suspects has been identified by mexican investigators as Dieppa’s girlfriend, Lizbeth Rodriguez, 22. They met at a bar and had been dating for five years, according to the State of Chihuahua prosecutor’s office.
Mexican officials say Rodriguez, and two other men, Victor Cano and Arturo Tarango killed Dieppa because they feared he would identify them. Dieppa was found dead in an abandoned house in Juarez on July 6.
The three suspects will formally charged in a Mexican courtroom within the next few days.
