UTEP Women?s Basketball Non-Conference Schedule Announced
EL PASO, TEXAS ? Five games against teams which played in the postseason last year, including a road contest at perennial NCAA participant and Pacific-12 member Arizona State, highlight the non-conference schedule for the UTEP women?s basketball team which was announced by head coach Keitha Adams Tuesday afternoon.
The Miners will face St. Mary?s University (Texas) in an exhibition conference on Nov. 5 before tipping off the 2011-12 regular season at home against Idaho State on Nov. 12. The match-up against the Bengals (18-12 last year) is the first of nine non-league contests slated for the Don Haskins Center.
The SONIC® America’s Drive-In® battle of I-10 then takes center stage, with the Miners playing at NM State on Nov. 16. The Aggies pay a visit to the Sun City on Nov. 29.
UTEP then returns home to challenge Houston Baptist on Nov. 19, the first of five straight home games. Also included in the stretch is UTPA (Nov. 19), Denver (Nov. 26), NM State and Lamar (Dec. 1). Both Denver and Lamar earned bids for the 2011 Women?s WNIT.
Two of the next three will be on the road, with the Orange and Blue heading up I-25 to square off against New Mexico (Dec. 10) and venturing to California to take on Loyola Marymount (Dec. 17). Sandwiched between is a home match-up against Northern Colorado (Dec. 13), which competed in the 2011 WBI
UC-Santa Barbara, a 2011 WNIT participant, invades El Paso on Dec. 21. The Miners will play their final non-league road game at Arizona State (Dec. 28), a squad which has competed in six of the past seven NCAA Tournaments. UTEP wraps up non-conference play with a New Year?s Eve match-up against Texas State at the Don Haskins Center.
