FIRST ALERT | Winds And Blowing Dust This Afternoon
The ABC-7 StormTRACK weather team has issued a First Alert for the borderland for Saturday.
A windy forecast is in store with sustained winds out of the southwest from 15 to 30 mph and wind gusts up to 50 mph and possibly higher on the eastern slopes of the Franklin Mountains.
The winds are also expected to create blowing dust and sand that will create travel hazards in the borderland with visibility reduced to less than a mile in some areas. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning, which is in effect for the Sacramento Mountains from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The rest of the viewing area is under a wind advisory from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Along with blowing dust, some downed power lines and trees aren’t out of the question.
