NMSU Football Loses Offensive Coordinator

LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? New Mexico State Head Football Coach DeWayne Walker announced Thursday that offensive coordinator Doug Martin has accepted the offensive coordinator job at Boston College.

?This is a great opportunity for Doug (Martin),? Walker said. ?When other schools come and recruit our coaches I see it as a positive step because this means we have hired good coaches and good people here at NM State. I wish Coach Martin the best in the future.?

Martin guided the Aggie offense in 2011, as NM State averaged 398.1 yards of offense a game, which ranked 46th in the nation and 25th in the nation in passing offense.

?I can?t say enough about Coach Walker. Not only about the type of coach he is but the type of man he is,? Martin said. ?I feel the direction this program is headed it?s going to be very successful. The people of Las Cruces, the administration and the university have been so great to me and my family. It was one of the toughest decisions I ever had to make in my career. I know a lot of people would think it would be an easy decision between the two places but it wasn?t and I will always be indebted to the people in this community for the way they treated me and my family.?
