New Year’s Closures

In observance of the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays, the following have announced closures or hour changes:

? All El Paso Municipal Court arraignment hearings scheduled for Dec. 23 at 9600 Dyer for today will be reset to the week of Jan. 2.

? The El Paso Electric business offices, including customer payment centers in Texas and New Mexico will be closed all day Jan. 2. Normal operating hours will resume Jan. 3.

? The administrative offices for the Parks and Recreation Department at City Hall will be closed from through Sunday. Recreation centers, senior centers, sports centers and daycare operations will be closed Friday and Jan. 1. Normal operating hours will resume Jan 2.

? The El Paso Museum of Archaeology and The El Paso Museum of History will be closed Sunday. The museum will be open normal hours for the remainder of the holiday season — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Museum of Archaeology is located in Northeast El Paso at 4301 Transmountain Road; admission is free and open to the public. ? The El Paso Public Library facilities Friday-Sunday. All libraries will resume their normal schedules Jan. 2. For more information visit www.elpasolibrary.org or call 543-5433.

? The city of El Paso Environmental Services Citizen Collection Stations, or drop-off sites, will be closed through Friday, and will resume normal operations — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday — on Jan. 3. The city’s landfill, at 2300 Darrington Road, will be closed Friday. The landfill will resume normal operating hours on Jan. 2nd: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

? The New Year’s Day holiday will not impact trash and recyclables collections. Residents will have their garbage and recyclables collected on their scheduled collection day.

? The city of El Paso Animal Services Program Animal Shelter at 5001 Fred Wilson, will be closed Friday. If the public needs assistance related to finding lost pets on those days, they call call 842-1000. A skeleton crew of Animal Services call-takers will be available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on those days. Animal-related emergencies Friday should be reported by calling police non-emergency dispatch at 832-4400. Animal Services officers will be on-call on those days to respond to serious animal-related calls. The Animal Services program and the shelter will resume normal operating schedules on Jan. 2.

? The El Paso Zoo will be closed Jan. 1. The zoo will remain on a regular winter schedule from Monday-Friday: 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Ticket gate closes at 4 p.m. For more information call 521-1850 or visit elpasozoo.org.

? The city of El Paso will observe the New Year’s holiday on Friday. Several administrative offices will remain closed the remainder of the week. The public can call 541-4000 to receive assistance for all city departments. Staff will be on-call as necessary. Offices will resume regular operating hours at 7a.m. Jan. 2. The tax office, Fire Department Prevention Division and General Services will be open Tuesday-Thursday. The El Paso Fire Department-Emergency operations; El Paso Police Department; El Paso International Airport; International Bridges, including toll collections and parking meters division and the General Services’ Lafayette MSC Heavy Vehicle Fleet Shop will remain open.

? The Downtown Artist Market will be closed Dec. 31. and Jan. 7, and will re-open every Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Jan 14. For information, contact mcad@elpasotexas.gov or call (915) 541-4481.

? Sun Metro will run on a regular schedule Monday and Friday. Some of the terminals and administrative offices will be closed Saturday and Sunday:

Saturday All bus service: Regular Schedule Customer service line (533-3333): open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Downtown Transfer Center (601 Santa Fe): open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. East Side Transit Terminal (1165 Sunmount): closed Administrative Offices (700 San Francisco): closed

Sunday: 25 routes will see the implementation of SPECIAL HOLIDAY SCHEDULES. Sun Metro will provide service throughout the city on the following routes only: 4, 7, 12, 14, 15, 22, 33, 35, 36, 41, 43, 44, 50, 51, 53, 58, 60, 61, 62, 63, 65, 66, 72, 73 and 83. ? The city of El Paso Engineering and Construction Management Department Plan Review and Business Center as well as the One-Stop Shop on the 5th floor will be closed through Friday. Inspections will be available Tuesday-Thursday by calling 541-4970. The department and its divisions will resume normal hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Jan. 2.

? The Housing Authority of the city of El Paso will be closed Friday and Jan 2. HACEP will be open for business from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. Maintenance crews will be on call 24 hours if an emergency should arise. Public Housing residents may call the emergency work order line at 849-3743 for emergencies only. To report routine work orders, residents must call 849-3744.

? Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande East Side location at 1359 Lomaland will be closed Saturday.

? The Doa Ana County offices will be closed Friday and Jan. 2. The administrative offices of the Doa Ana County Sheriff’s Department will be closed, but law enforcement and emergency services in the field will be continuous, with saturation patrols and DWI checkpoints planned throughout the holiday period.

? The city of Las Cruces offices will be closed Jan. 2. Emergency services will not be affected. The following will also be closed:

Senior Programs services and programs. All museums Branigan Library Parks & Recreation facilities. Solid waste offices. There will be trash pickup Jan. 2. Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley is closed Jan. 1. The center will close at 3 p.m. Saturday.
