Police: Woman Arrested For Allegedly Hitting Husband With Truck

Gina Salazar, 23, was arrested on Saturday after an alleged incident involving her husband. She’s charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, in this case the weapon was her car.

According to El Paso Police, Salazar is responsible for running her husband over with a H2 Hummer on Friday. Ramon Mercado, Salazar’s husband, was walking near the 6500 block of Edgemere Boulevard when he was struck. Mercado was injured and is currently recovering at University Medical Center.

Witnesses claim they saw Salazar speed away from the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the Hummer. As a result, a warrant for Salazar’s arrest was obtained.

Police caught up with Salazar on Saturday along the 1600 block of St. Johns. She was placed under arrest and booked in the El Paso County Jail. Her bond was set at $30,000.
