Man’s Body Found In Parking Lot

El Paso police officials have told ABC-7 that investigators believe a man found dead in a Northeast El Paso parking lot killed himself.

It was around 1:45 Tuesday morning when El Paso police were called to the Chili’s restaurant on Transmountain Rd. near U.S. 54.

Police say the manager found a body behind the restaurant, in the Lowe’s parking lot at 4531 Transmountain.

A spokesman for the El Paso Police Department says the man’s death is suspicious in nature due to the time and location it happened, as well as the obvious signs of trauma, but that this is likely not a homicide.

“There is evidence indicating that the individual that has died here… may have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said police spokesman Darrel Petry.

“As soon as we can confirm that, we will definitely do that. That may take a couple of days. There’s more aspects of the investigation that need to be followed through,” he added.
