Faulty Wire Sparks Downtown Fire, Destroys Business
A fire ripped through a two-story downtown business just after 9 p.m. Saturday evening, according to the El Paso Fire Department.
Nine units and 26 firefighters responded to smoke and flames pouring out of the first floor of 408 South El Paso Street, destroying the Bella Boutique.
Crews were able to contain the fire to the first floor of the building, but the business was completely destroyed. The second floor and basement were also damaged, but were not occupied.
Fire investigators determined that the cause of the fire was faulty wiring.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
