Car hits woman in Tornillo
A woman is in serious condition after being hit by a car in Tornillo.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed a 20-year-old woman was hit by a car near the intersection of George Strait and Oil Mill early Saturday morning.
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Chris Acosta said the accident happened outside a house party.
Acosta said a man who showed up to the house party was asked to leave.
As the man drove off, Acosta said, rocks were reportedly thrown at his car.
Deputies believe he then made a sharp U-turn and hit the woman in the middle of the street.
Deputies said slick road conditions from overnight rain may have also led to the collision.
The driver of the car pulled over to call for help, Acosta said.
The woman was taken to the hospital, according to officials.
As of Saturday morning, the woman’s injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening by officials.
