Lockdown lifted for MacArthur Elementary, Burges High School; person with gun not found

El Paso Independent School District officials told ABC-7 students from MacArthur Elementary and Burges High will be released at regular times and that the lockdown has been lifted.

No alleged person with a gun was found near or on school grounds, according to district officials.

El Paso Police are still searching for a person subject resembling the initial call of “person with a gun.” At least two people matching the basic description of the suspect have been stopped, in two different locations away from the schools. Nobody has been taken into custody.

El Paso Independent School District Police Department officers and El Paso Police investigated a call of a possible “person with a gun” spotted in the area.
