Mesilla Valley Chili Bowl

The Las Cruces vs. Mayfield game has been titled several things over the years. This year the game is taking a spin-off from the state’s biggest question; “Red or Green?”

This year’s game is being called the “Mesilla Valley Chili Bowl,” and Las Cruces fans are encouraged to wear t-shirts that say “Team Red,” where as Mayfield fans are encouraged to wear t-shirts that read, “Team Green.”

Brian Cox who owns Sports Accessories in Las Cruces is the creator of this year’s theme, and is excited about the idea. “This year we thought it would be perfect for Red vs. Green,” Cox said. “It’s the New Mexico question Red vs. Green, but not in the form of Chili, it’s about what side of town you are on.”

Over the year other themes for the big game were “The Civil War,” “Title Town,” and “Friday Night Lights.”
