I-10 West closed after crash. Truck fire shuts down US 54 to Alamogordo

I-10 West near Downtown El Paso is currently shut down after a serious crash.

The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning. Emergency crews say one person was taken to the hospital.

All westbound traffic must exit at downtown.

US 54 East was shut down early Monday morning after a truck caught fire near the Texas/New Mexico state line.

The incident happened in the middle of the highway just after 1 a.m.

Emergency crews were able to put out the fire before it could spread to the trailer, which was carrying a gas that has not been identified yet.

While authorities say the risk of the trailer exploding is gone, a detour had not been called off as of 4 a.m. requiring traffic en route to Alamogordo to exit on McCombs and get back on US 54 through Chaparral.
