Arson spree under investigation in east El Paso
Police and Fire crews are looking into several suspicious fires that happened in east El Paso Friday morning.
The incidents began just before 4 a.m. at the Lake Fairway Apartments and a home on the 1500 block of Brian Ray.
What is known so far is that fire crews first responded to a car fire at the apartment complex. Shortly afterward, a dumpster fire was reported at the same apartment complex. Those two fires were put out quickly, and fire investigators were called to the scene. Another car parked in the apartment complex was also found to have been burglarized.
Just before 4:30 a.m., emergency crews were called out to another call fire outside a home on Brian Ray. According to police scanners, a witness inside the home noticed someone drive up to the home. The witness reportedly saw that person throw something into a truck parked in the street, causing it to catch on fire.
So far there is no official word if the incidents are related, but emergency crews we spoke with say the events at the apartment complex are the work of an arsonist.
