Crime of the Week: Fully-bearded man robs Family Dollar in Lower Valley

A fully-bearded man armed with a gun robbed a Lower Valley Family Dollar and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The robbery occurred Feb. 9, and is the subject of Crime Stoppers of El Paso’s “Crime of the Week.”

Investigators said the man walked into the store about 10 p.m. at 8899 Alameda, and confronted an employee in the back of the store. The robber then brandished a handgun and demanded money.

The employee handed over the money and the robber ran out the back of the store and fled in a dark, ’90s model SUV.

Surveillance cameras captured a picture the robber. He is described as being a Caucasian or Hispanic man in his thirties. He had a full beard and mustache, and was wearing a black hat, black jacket and bluejeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 566-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org. Tipsters remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
