Hit-and-run in Fabens leaves one dead

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a woman lying along the 15400 block of North Loop Drive in Fabens early Saturday morning.

The 22-year-old woman had no signs of life upon arrival, and was pronounced dead.

Officials told ABC-7 the initial investigation suggests the woman was walking on the shoulder of the eastbound Lanes of North Loop when a car also traveling east struck her.

The driver did not stop, and fled the area, according to officials.

Deputies said the car should have some damage from the impact of the collision. No further details on the vehicle were available.

Special traffic investigators were sent to the scene, and are currently looking for the missing vehicle.

The incident lead to the closure of North Loop at Tata going westbound.

North Loop at Webb heading eastbound was also closed off during the morning hours.
