Man arrested, identified in stabbing that left one dead, others injured

The man who killed one person, and left two others injured, has been identified, according to police.

Police said 36-year-old Jesse Vasquez was arrested Saturday afternoon when he turned himself into officials.

ABC-7’s I-Team was the first to uncover Vasquez’s name, and break it during Good Morning El Paso Weekend.

Vasquez was arrested on charges of murder, aggravated assault, and criminal attempt murder, according to El Paso County jail records. The charges carry a combined bond of $280,000.

Three people were stabbed around 4 a.m. Saturday in central El Paso. Police initially received a subject disturbance call, but while en route, the officers received word it was upgraded to a stabbing in progress.

According to Police, 32-year-old Miriam Aguirre Salas was found dead on the scene. ABC-7 has learned she was a mother, and the people involved in the incident may have known each other.

In addition, 32-year-old Enrique Contreras was found with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was sent to University Medical Center. Another woman, 30-year-old Alma Rocio Dominguez, had minor injuries and was treated on scene.

According to officials, it appears some sort of altercation began on the 600 block of Florence near 4th Avenue. The stabbings took place inside an apartment in the area.

The investigation continues into the stabbings.
