NM State Police: Teen found dead at Caballo Lake

New Mexico State Police are investigating the death of a teenager found in Caballo Lake on Sunday.

The teenager was identified as Omar Sanchez, 19.

Sanchez’s family told ABC-7 he is a Mayfield High School graduate.

Police said the family reported Sanchez was missing on Saturday morning. Divers found his body in the lake the next morning.

Family members said Sanchez was camping at the lake with some of his cousins when he went missing.

Family members told ABC-7 the details of what happened don’t add up. They believe Sanchez was murdered.

State police said they are investigating. Police are waiting on autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
