Sherman Hemsley to be Buried at Fort Bliss on Wednesday

Nearly four months after his death, television icon Sherman Hemsley will be buried in El Paso on Wednesday.

Hemsley’s funeral schedule is as follows:

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the San Jose Funeral Home East.

The funeral will be on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the Cielo Vista Church.

Hemsley’s burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.

Hemsley died in his El Paso home from complications brought on by lung cancer on July 24.

Hemsley’s official burial and memorial services had been put on hold while a man claiming to be Hemsley’s half brother contested a will written by the former “Jeffersons” star one month before he died.

In the will, Hemsley left everything he owned to his manager and best friend Flora Enchinton-Bernal.

An El Paso County judgeruled Hemsley’s will was valid in November, therefore the disposition of his body and his estate reside with Enchinton-Bernal.
