Congressman Beto O’Rourke introduces bill to restore funding assistance for military programs

Congressman Beto O’Rourke on Wednesday introduced a bill that he says will help restore funding for the tuition assistance programs that military service men and women rely on.

“H.R. 1265 will help the 36,000 Service Members who currently serve out of Fort Bliss . As they make their return from Iraq and Afghanistan, these men and women rely on tuition assistance programs to begin the transition back into civilian life, earn an education and secure a good paying-jobs. We cannot pull the rug out from under them now,” O’Rourke said. “Sequestration has forced the Pentagon to make some tough decisions, but those cuts should not target the tuition programs that allow Service Members to achieve their fullest potential. “
