El Paso Sheriff’s Office arrest 18-year-old for allegedly raping woman while she jogged

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested an 18-year-old Canutillo man and charged him with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated robbery.

Sheriff’s officials said that on Aug. 13, 2013, Dustin Joseph Rizzo accosted a 20-year-old woman at gunpoint and sexually assaulted and robbed the woman while she was jogging at an El Paso County park. The sheriff’s office is not releasing the name of the park. In Texas sexual assault is the charge for rape.

Rizzo is now in custody at the El Paso County Detention facility being held on a total $450,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to be aware of the surroundings at all times, remember the buddy system when running, jogging or bike riding, be with at least one other person and stay in well lit populated areas. Always let someone else know when and where you are going to be.
