Police investigate text seeking ransom for missing man

A text message seeking ransom money is one of the clues police have as they search for a man they say may have been kidnapped.

Police say 45-year-old Luis Rodriguez vanished Thursday morning from a job site in east el Paso.

Rodriguez is self-employed.

A friend received a text message at 11:30 a.m. indicating Rodriguez was being held and the captors demanded money.

Officers found Rodriguez’s abandoned truck, a Ford F-150, in the 400 block of South Park Street south of Paisano Drive, near the Mexican border.

Rodriguez is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He is balding and has a gray goatee.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black polo shirt.

Police ask that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477, 915-566-(TIPS).
