Relative: Woman who stabbed mother was on cocaine, ‘shrooms’
El Paso Police say Jennifer Alvarado, 25, stabbed her mother twelve times before officers found Alvarado covered in blood and naked outside her home in Northeast El Paso on Tuesday night and a relative says Alvarado is a good daughter who was on drugs the night of the stabbing.
The stabbing happened in a trailer park on the 6100 block of Quail in Northeast el Paso. According to sources close to Alvarado, her mother, Barbara Herrera is at University Medical Center.
According to the arrest affidavit, Alvarado stabbed her mother in the cheek, chest, shoulders and abdomen.
A relative who did not want her name published, says Alvarado loves her mother and is a sweet daughter. The relative says Alvarado was on Mushrooms and Cocaine the night of the stabbing. She says alvarado was hallucinating.
The relative says they took Alvarado to the hospital on Sunday because she was behaving “loopy.” Three hours later -the hospital released her. The relative says Alvarado was at Sierra Medical Center but ABC-7 has not confirmed that.
The affidavit says Alvarado and her mother were spotted struggling outside their home the night of the stabbing. “She was screaming at the top of her lungs. I mean everybody saw it and just like no and it was a crazy night for all of us in this park,” a resident of the trailer park told ABC-7.
Alvarado’s mother, Barbara Herrera is at University Medical Center. The relative says Herrera has a collapsed lung and injuries to her kidney and liver.
Alvarado remain in jail on a $200,000 bond and charged with attempted murder.
