UPDATE: Soldier in stable condition after stabbing

El Paso Police have released the names of those involved in a stabbing outside a West Side club early Friday.

Police were patrolling the parking lof ot the Little Bit of Texas Bar at around 1:50 a.m. when were told of an incident that was occurring in another area of the parking lot.

As officers arrived on the scene they found 21-year-old David Schwiger and 28-year-old Gabriel Perea bleeding and being provided first aid by witnesses.

Bar staff was also holding the alleged stabber, 22-year-old Kenneth Epley for the officers.

Police say that an argument occurred inside of the bar between Schwiger and Epley that escalated once they wre both outside in the parking lot. Both men live on Fort Bliss.

Epley then produced a knife that he allegedly used to stab Schwiger multiple times. Schwiger sustained multiple lacerations to his head and torso. A member of the bar’s security staff, Gabriel Perea, observed the altercation and attempted to separate the two men. Epley then allegedly began to swing the knife at Perea and cut Perea multiple times on his hands.

Schwiger was transported by El Paso Fire/Medical to University Medical Center where he was last reported to be in stable condition.

Perea refused transport to a medical facility and was treated at the scene. Epley has been booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on two charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. His bond was set at $50,000.
