Vandalism causes extensive damage at Northeast El Paso BMX park

Desert Downs BMX park in Northeast El Paso was vandalized overnight and the damage was extensive.

Everything from lights to mirrors and even kitchen utensils were vandalized.

Other damages include “snowed in” extinguishers, spray painted items, and broken windows.

In 1977, some members of the Transmountain Optimist Club signed a contract with the City to lease a parcel of land with the contract including maintenance of a BMX track, according to the Desert Downs website.

The track is open year-round with a break from mid-December to mid-January.
