4th person dies from Juarez border factory blast

A Mexican hospital official says a fourth person has died from injuries inflicted by an explosion last week at a candy factory on Mexico’s border with the United States.

Government health system spokesman Rosendo Gaytan says the 35-year-old employee of the factory Dulces Blueberry in Ciudad Juarez died Tuesday at a hospital in the city of Guadalajara, where he was transferred to be treated for third-degree burns.

The blast Thursday on the second floor of the factory caused the floor to collapse, injuring people working downstairs. The cause is still unknown.

The factory employs 300 people and produces gummy bears, jelly beans, peach rings and other sweets that are sent across the border to El Paso, Texas.
