Fort Bliss Breaks Ground on New Kennels
The Post broke ground today on new kennels on East Fort Bliss. Officials with the 93rd Military Police Battalion and Emergency Services say the new facility has been in the works for quite a while, and they’re glad to see construction begin.
The new kennels will house 18 military dogs.
Lt. Col. Richard Ball says, “The new facility that we have is a repurposed facility and it’s just been worn down over the years. We have increased our capacity with our military dogs, and the facility wasn’t able to hold them anymore.”
The dogs that will be housed in the new kennels are not only for patrol and law enforcement puposes on Post, they are also the ones that are deployed and used to detect explosives in combat zones.
