Late night shooting outside Central El Paso bar
A man is in the hospital after being shot outside a Central El Paso bar early Friday morning.
The incident happened outside of the George Washington Lounge around midnight. It’s located on the 3900 block of Montana near the intersection with Lamar.
Emergency Services dispatch confirmed a man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Robert Sanchez, a witness, told ABC-7 there appeared to be several men arguing with one another when the shots rang out.
Sanchez said he was walking toward the bar with a group of friends when it happened.
“We had just gotten off the car, we were deciding if we were going to go in or not because we did see the altercation outside. As we were walking in that’s when in it all happened and so we ran in,” said Sanchez.
Friday morning ABC-7 spoke with the owner who showed up to open the bar.
Rosina Deveaux said she has owned the bar for 25 years and has never had any problems.
She confrimed the bouncer of the bar was involved, but said when she arrived to the scene overnight police did not give her much information and would not allow her to talk to him.
Deveux said investigators have requested to go through surveillance video from security camera.
Video recorded by an ABC-7 photographer on the scene showed a man in custody and questioned by police.
Moments later, his hands were wrapped in plastic bags and examined by officers before he was put into a patrol unit.
The El Paso Police Department has not confirmed any arrests.
